He also co-hosts The Cryptid Factor podcast and is co-creator of the Rose d’Or Award–winning BBC Radio 4 panel show The Museum of Curiosity. This book is a testament to how unorthodox thinking has often been at the forefront of science and the development of humanity. For all ebook purchases, you will be prompted to create an account or login with your existing HarperCollins username and password. Humans are fascinated with weird and unusual phenomena—hence the popularity of books, magazines, television shows and podcasts focusing on “unexplained” subjects such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, UFOs and the Bermuda Triangle. A theoretical account of moral revolutions, illustrated by historical cases that include the criminalization and decriminalization of abortion and the patient rebellion against medical paternalism.

Teorie assurde, tipo che il Titanic sarebbe affondato per colpa dei viaggiatori nel tempo, o che le piante in vaso potessero essere usate come testimoni oculari di delitti. One fascinating story involves the work of neuroscientist John Lilly, who sought “to teach dolphins to speak the English language so perfectly that they would be given a chair at the United Nations to speak on behalf of all marine mammals. To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. Should you finish it believing we became the planet’s dominant species because predators found us too smelly to eat; or that the living bloodline of Christ is a family of Japanese garlic farmers – well, that’s on you. Dan Schreiber is an author, podcaster, and presenter who has made a career out of combining interesting facts with comedy. But don’t worry, no matter what questions you have, you can bet on the fact that there is someone (or something) out there, investigating it on your behalf. Schreiber, co-host of the hit podcast No Such Thing as a Fish, assembles a selection of his more oddball interviews and adds a torrent of historical eccentrics and anecdotes.

Dan Schreiber takes peculiar theories about some of life’s greatest mysteries and spins them into nonstop hilarity. But don’t worry, no matter what questions you have, you can bet on the fact that there is someone (or something) out there, investigating it on your behalf – and this book collects their latest findings. It was the Belle poque, a time before air travel or radio, at the brink of a revolution in photography and filmmaking, when Burton Holmes (1870-1958) began a lifelong journey to bring the world home. This is a book full to the brim with strange theories, whacky scientists, plant talkers, bigfoot hunters and soft rocks. It’s about strange theories and the people who believe them; amazing coincidences and the workings of fate. HAND SIGNED BY DAN SCHREIBER BRAND NEW FIRST EDITION FIRST PRINTING HARDBACK This is not a book of facts; it s a book of facts . We don’t know the answers to any of these questions (that includes the shower-curtain one, which is a mystery that has eluded scientists for decades, and which they are still trying to solve).

The reason I gave this book four stars is simple: some chapters were MUCH more interesting than others. Each chapter is conveniently broken down into sections on what happened to those who transgressed or observed the particular law, the key elements in this law, and ways to defensively reverse this law when it’s used against you. To judge by Isaacson’s account, that may have been by design, for Musk’s idea of creative destruction seems to mean mostly chaos. The book is overpopulated with aliens, whether they were witnessed or were historical figures (Jesus may have been one).

The writing was however under par, which I didn’t expect from Dan Schreiber, being a No Such Thing as a Fish fan. All this to say, this book will have you exploring your own version of batshit in the most entertaining way. Insomma, il suggerimento iniziale di questo saggio è “Fate quello che volete nel vostro privato, ma quando le conseguenze delle vostre idee non riguardano soltanto voi, attenti a credere sulla fiducia. You may just realise how weird you are, how weird we all are - and when we can all accept our weirdness and be weird together - that could be world changing.

Should you finish it believing we became the planet s dominant species because predators found us too smelly to eat; or that the living bloodline of Christ is a family of Japanese garlic farmers well, that s on you.

Each law, however, gets its own chapter: “Conceal Your Intentions,” “Always Say Less Than Necessary,” “Pose as a Friend, Work as a Spy,” and so on.
