hey i dont know if i should buy the a5x or the a7x… i make dance music… but i have a small room with shitty walls… with flatmates asswell… i know you need more sub for dance… but would i get enough from the a5x’s? Berlin, Germany (April 7, 2022 ) – ADAM Audio is proud to announce the introduction of the A Series, the successor series of the multi-award-winning and long-time best-selling loudspeakers of the AX Series. You can’t go wrong with Genelecs. Bonus is that they are ultra durable and should last you for a very long time. French manufacturer Focal has released many well-respected monitors for mixers mixers of all skill levels.
In the A5, that same tweeter is teamed with a 5.5-inch woofer, using a cone material that's fabricated from a sandwich of carbon fibre and a specialist material called Rohacell. This produces a rigid, well-damped cone which, suspended in its soft-roll surround, bodes well for low-end clarity. The drivers are mounted in a neat and fairly conventional ported enclosure, with all the connections on the metal rear panel, which also serves as a heat-sink for the electronics. Two small bass ports are located at the lower corners of the front baffle. Design & Construction A lot of people online say that the 7" is better for bass-heavy electronic music. I really like the look of the ADAM A nX series… The ultimate question remains: are 5" drivers enough for electronic music production in my room, or should I simply cut those options from consideration and go for 7"? I simply do not have enough experience to know how drastic of a difference in low end there is.The ART (Accelerating Ribbon Technology) tweeters and mid-range drivers incorporate a new approach to the Air Motion Transformer concept originally developed by Dr Oskar Heil. ADAM Audio has refined the original, innovative design, employing superior geometries and materials to achieve unprecedented audio fidelity. The newly developed tweeter design has become the embodiment of the transparent, highly defined, accurate audio for which ADAM Audio is now respected. ADAM A5X Active Studio MonitorThe Adam A5X studio monitor builds on the technology found in the legacy A5 monitor, which managed to make itself a big name in both professional environments as well as in computer or desktop applications. Handmade in Berlin, the X-ART tweeters offer longer operation times with far fewer signs of operational fatigue compared to other speakers. Strength comes from the tweeters folded diaphragm, designed to keep distortion at bay, the unique X-ART membrane compresses and expands with the audio signal, whilst its larger size (2.5 times bigger than a classic tweeter) gives it an advanced dynamic range that delivers superb audio. Coupled with its own low-distortion A/B amplifier the X-ART tweeter delivers superb results.
hi Dreambass, yeah Im with you too on the hifi-vs-powered monitors. I think the way we listen to music is changing; many new and interesting ways to evolve a system.I was veering towards the 8020s with a sub (7040 obviously pairs well, people seem to recommend the JBL LSR 310 S for this too) which I think would probably be ideal for a small room really, the 8010s might be enough with a sub even. But then a good deal on an ex-demo 8030 popped up so I jumped on that, then found it a friend. Claid, at least you are making music while I am scouring monitor comparisons online… in an untreated room lol Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room.
