Winfield Hill has held positions at numerous organisations, including Harvard University's Electronic Design Center and Sea Data Corporation. An encyclopedia of electronics knowledge, [The Art of Electronics] is a pleasure to read through for tips and tricks and is an unbeatable resource! The Art of Electronics, by Paul Horowitz and Winfield Hill, is a popular electronics design reference textbook dealing with analog and digital electronics. But it's very well-written and explains things in an intuitive way that I never really learned in college.

For those unfamiliar with it, AoE, first published in 1980, is an unusually useful hybrid of textbook and engineer’s reference, blending just enough theory with liberal doses of practical experience. Learning the Art of Electronics: A Hands-On Lab Course - (formerly Student Manual for The Art of Electronics) by Thomas C. The preface is explicit about this; the linear structure of previous AoE books has been replaced with very modular sections on specific topics. If you’ve been into electronics for any length of time, you’ve almost certainly run across the practical bible in the field, The Art of Electronics, commonly abbreviated AoE.As others have noted, the paper used is quite thin, but it would have to be, given the page-count - 1260-ish.

Or, refer to the pinouts, diagrams, and techniques as necessary to guide you through a difficult project. at times, i felt completely lost, especially as they dug into relative minutiae of various components. As director of the institute's Electronics Engineering Lab he has designed some 500 scientific instruments. If you don't, you can probably still pick things up through osmosis, and you'd probably get the most out of it on your second pass through. This is not to say that I felt AoE3 was lacking before this new book, but it’s certainly more complete with this included. whereas Practical Electronics for Inventors hurriedly builds up the theory in the first two chapters, Horowitz just figures you know.

I will say that, having loved the style of the v2 pdf version, v3 seems to follow on in the same vein.

It defines the current state of the art in electronics … Most parts of the book will continue to be relevant for several decades. Generally if I’m doing something at the level of transistors and diodes I always feel like I could be doing a much better product by using ICs.
